Capturing Your Moments

Our God is an amazing artist. He Himself has created the mountains and lakes, the wildlife and flowers, the waterfalls and the meadows that are so often painted, photographed and depicted by artists throughout history. Our own art is but an attempt to capture and portray the beauty of these creations.

I have long loved capturing God’s creation through my camera lens. Growing up in the beautiful desert mountains of northern New Mexico gave me many opportunities to experience the majesty of God’s creation. However, as I grew as an artist I began to discover something. I would much rather capture an image of my dad walking down a misty forest path than just capture the beauty of the path itself.

God’s creation is glorious but He didn’t create it to exist in itself. He created it, and then created Man and Woman to live in it, care for it, and be sustained by it. That is where I have found my love and my passion. A mountain peak is amazing, but capturing a person who has climbed it touches my heart. A babbling brook is beautiful but a child playing at its edge is exquisite.

People are the pinnacle of God’s creation. People are the joy of my art. As I have made my journey in photographing people, I have found my love to be children. Children wear their hearts on their sleeves. They will not pretend to be happy when they are not, mean it wholly when they say they love you, and are not ashamed of their faith. Even Jesus, who came into the world as a child, uses children as examples of what it means to have faith.

I love the fact that you never know what a child might do when placed on a set or taken to a park. It is that spontaneity that drives me! I not only want to capture a beautiful image of your child, I want to catch “that look” or “that smile” or “those eyes”. Children are simultaneously magical and hilarious and beautiful. I have been so blessed to be able to play with so many children and share the images that come from those sessions.

God is an amazing artist. I simply try to capture a glimpse of the beauty he created in children and in people.
